چکیده
Abstract This paper forensically reconstructs the timings, impacts and processes that drove sequence of explosive eruptions La Soufrière, St Vincent in April 2021 using a combination field-based stratigraphy textural dissection deposit character together with contemporary visual observations. Explosive activity on 9 early 10 involved destruction almost all 2020/2021 lava dome, c. 60% 1979 dome formation 600 m diameter crater by 2pm UTC April. Following initial explosion, plumes rose to altitudes 15 km pyroclastic density currents (PDCs), formed column collapse, first occurred April, only after >24 h activity. Dense PDCs reached sea Larikai Roseau valleys, dilute were restricted within 2.5 Summit Crater rim. The tephra fallout deposits are stratified, composed numerous layers both lapilli-rich ash-rich layers, which we have grouped into at least 7 units, based their common characteristics (Units 1 7). Volume estimates, range techniques constrain uncertainties, indicate bulk volume (fallout PDC) is 1.19 × 8 3 ± 20% making this VEI 4 eruption.

Garnet-fassaite calc-silicate nodule from La soufriire. st. vincent
The mineralogy of an unusual calc-silicate nodule brought to the surfaoe by the 1902 eruption of La Soufriere volcano on St. Vincent (Lesser Antilles arc) is described. It consists of the crystalloblastic mineral assemblage fassaite pyroxene + grandite garnet + wollastonite + anorthite t calcite. The pyroxene is more aluminous (Al2O3 : 19.66 weight percent) than any previously described from te...
متن کاملSt. Vincent and the Grenadines.
Saint Vincent and the Grenadines conjures up images of a yachting haven and a quiet tourists' paradise. The conflicting demands of a growing population, a middle-income economy dominated by fishing, plantation agriculture and tourism, and environmental and social concerns, all contribute to marine stress on the limited, precious, but internationally important resources. While the vision exists ...
متن کاملNephrocalcinosis: new insights into mechanisms and consequences.
The most common form of renal stone disease, calcium nephrolithiasis, is defined as the presentation of a macroscopic concrement of inorganic (calcium phosphate and/or calcium phosphate) and organic material in the renal calyces and/or pelvis, either adhered to the papillae or pelvic urothelium or not. In search of the mechanism underlying calcium nephrolithiasis, in vitro and in vivo studies a...
متن کاملInsights into the sequence of structural consequences of convulsive status epilepticus: a longitudinal MRI study.
While acute hippocampal magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) changes have been demonstrated, the long-term structural consequence of status epilepticus remains unclear. Also the timing of previously reported fornix abnormalities in patients with mesial temporal sclerosis (MTS) is unknown. We report longitudinal volumetic MRI and diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) findings of the hippocampus and fornix ...
متن کاملInsights into workplace bullying: psychosocial drivers and effective interventions
Research on effectiveness of workplace bullying interventions has lagged behind descriptive studies on this topic. The literature on bullying intervention research has only recently expanded to a point that allows for synthesis of findings across empirical studies. This study addresses the question of whether workplace bullying can be reduced in prevalence and consequences, if so to what extent...
